To check if YOUR screen is set to the right resolution, perform the following steps:
Minimize all windows
Right-click on the desktop
Select "Properties"
Click on the "Settings" tab
Check the resolution and change to at least 800x600 and 16 bit color (or the next setting after 256 color) if necessary. 1024x768 is better yet...
If Windows tells you it needs to test your monitor first, click OK. If the screen looks OK, click OK and you're in business. If the screen becomes garbled or disappears, don't worry: Windows will restore the original settings in 15 seconds if you don't touch any keys. In that case, you're kinda stuck. Better get a new computer...
